Spring cleaning and makeover.
Spring: that time of year when flowers bloom, birds chirp, and households are turned upside down with that annual ritual known as spring cleaning. One recent Saturday, I caught that bug while perusing the bathroom built-in shelving, a three-shelf storage area partially hidden behind the door.
In one quick moment I flashed back to four springs ago, when my husband Chris and I bought our home and...

The selfishness of altruism.
This past Sunday, New York Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof delivered Syracuse University’s 2013 Commencement Address. I was lucky enough to hear him as the 2011 Junior League Annual Conference keynote speaker almost exactly two years ago. (Really. Nearly to the day.)
(I realize I’ve previously written about some of Mr. Kristof’s central messages - whether...

Something larger.
(This post is cross-posted at electionclass.com.)
It’s November 5, 2012 - just one day from Election Day 2012. This will be the sixth presidential election in which I’ve voted. I remember each election’s candidates and where I was living at the time, perhaps my first presidential election most of all.

Tag, I was it (finally).
This past weekend I got my inner craft on and threw together some Halloween-meets-thank-you cards. I was working at my friend Sara’s house, and as I completed my cards she was still finishing up her scrapbook layout, so I took full advantage of our time together to finish another project.

Thank You for Halloween.
This past Friday morning I was drinking my coffee and watching the morning news, and found myself looking at my weekend calendar. Its wide expanses of free time - quite unusual lately - brought out my inner wild and crazy. So I did what any time-constrained and craft-loving woman would do: sent a tweet to her best scrap pals asking who was up for an impromptu weekend get-together.
